Well...i tend to stick with the original releases (with several exception off course e.g. LOTR extended edition, the anamorphic Titanic) such as DTS version of Saving Private Ryan, DTS version of Bourne Identity.
And I think Flaminio has a good point about double diping

Thanks. I think the time to get *really* worked up is when they start coming out with HD-DVD/Blu-Ray/HVD versions of all one's favorite movies, and we have to buy them all again.
Which will be all fine, until of course they come out with 4K resolution versions enhanced for 21:9 televisions.
It never really ends, does it...

From what I've heard, the new "Bueller...Bueller" Edition drops the commentary altogether. And I'm with you regarding these pre-planned double-dips - I hold out whenever I see a single-disc release of a major hit movie nowadays. Fool me once, shame on you...

Actually, there's been 5 different releases of Halloween in region 1. Evil Dead is another one that has officially crossed over into the realm of ridiculousness (4 releases and counting). Night of the Living Dead is the reigning champ, however, with over 20 different releases! Of course, they're not all from the same studio.

The movie was in "PUBLIC DOMAIN" for about 15 years, so anyone could put out a version of it... and many many did...
the legacy millenium version is the TRUE great version though
(the one with the red box)
same thing for "it's a wonderful life" by the way...
