King Kong - Peter Jackson's Production Diaries
Our local Electronics/DVD store now has the "King Kong - Peter Jackson's Production Diaries". So are they actually releasing the special features in parallel with the theatrical release just to bring out the barebones DVD 4 months later and another 4 months later release the Special edition that has the barebones DVD and the special features in one box with one never before seen extra so everyone is buying it again? Is it just me or has the world gone mad?

If someone buys this I would be curious as to how interesting it is.

I've got it. The packaging as everyone has seen is great if a little flimsy... it's only thin cardboard. Looks great on the shelf though!
I did laugh when I read my cert of authentication at 200,XXX+. Not so limited it seems. Probably the best part of this set is the 4 art prints, they are great and will look wonderful once framed and on the wall.
The doco's are great… if a little short. All together it runs about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I didn't watch on-line so it was great to see them all. You’ll know what to expect if you’ve seen the LOTR doco’s as they are completely in that mould. Some of the doco's go into a good amount of detail, others less so. If you’re a fan of Jackson and you want something collectible I recommend it if you can get a good deal on it, otherwise wait for the eventual extended edition with the kitchen sink.

Any pics of the art prints? It sounds like you really seem to like them.

Here you go, not the best quality pics, believe me they look much better than what's represented here...

There is also a 50page making of booklet that comes with the set. There are plenty of pics, art, concept drawings etc contained within. You might be able to take elements from this, but the pics are all small and tend to bleed off the page leaving the image incomplete.
The best of these is a piece of concept art that spans the centre pages, very nice if again a little small.

WoW...yay...you know, if I had some extra cash I might buy it, but I'm kinda tired of this repackaging nowadays...they'll release it again with a different cover in a month or two...so...don't know...guess I'll wait...
