DVD Market (a prediction)

Haver you been noticing lately with WB that they're releasing the collector's editions of DVD in less quantity than bare bones discs? Yes I know they're for collector's, but take Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for example. Everyone is buying the collector's edition and whoever wants it down the road will be left with scraps.

Here's what I'm predicting. This will become a standard tactic from the studios once Bluray and HD-DVD hit the market. Anyone not wanting to upgrade to the new technology will be given *just* the bare bones edition on DVD and all the goodies will be on the new format. It's only a matter of time before we given...

Any yay/nay sayers out there on this?

I don't have anything to say about the probability of this happening, but I can say this:
THEY'D BETTER NOT!
I'm already extremely upset that the existence of a bare bones DVD is being used as an excuse to charge $8.00 more for a two-disc edition than when there were no bare bones versions. If they try to pull this garbage, it may just be enough for me to give up on DVDs altogether.

imp is right...this will most likely happen because there has to be a reason to start phasing out dvd technology and discs in favor or the hd or bluray discs....so how better than to do it than to make the format undesirable. they can't just stop making them because that will hurt profits.

Blu-Ray, that's the one where you can only play the discs on one player, or they shut off isn't it? If it is, then I'm in trouble.
