I originally bought a HD-DVD player because I believe it to be the superior format.

I know picture quality is the same on both but HD is supported by the DVD forum. HD gives you both versions of the movie on many titles (HD & SD). WHo wants to buy a HD player for every room. What about those with portable players or players in vehicles?

I haven't found any Blu that offers both.

after Warners announcement and a generally bad feeling about HD's future, I bought a combo player.

They can fight it out and I will be able to buy the movies I want in whatever format it is released.

What I do know is if you have a Blue-Ray player it may already be obsolete! Sony didn't want Toshiba to get to much of a head start on sales. So Sony released premature hardware just to get into productionto play catch up.

This means that many Blue-Ray player will not suport new upcoming special features that Blue-ray will offer. This will not be a firmware upgrade either, as it is in the hardware architecture.

So even if Sony wins, if you have one of the early realeased Blue-ray's, you too may be a loser as well.

I am putting my money on a winner, who ever the porn industry chooses will be the deciding factor.

If you think about it DVD in any form is really fast becoming a dead medium. Soon you will goto Best Buy, Walmart, etc. and download your DRM protected files onto flash media or memory cards. Albums gave way to 8 tracks which gave way to cassettes which gave way to cd's which is giving way to digital forms like mp3, wma, & etc. DVD's will give way to HD or Blu-ray then to mpeg, avi, & etc. Hell why even leave the house? Buy directly online!!!

Consumers will always like to hold something tangible. Renting a movie staright from home is one thing, but when you people want to own something - the want to physically hold that THING.
