Warner Home Video will now support Blu-Ray Exclusivley....F@#K!!!!

A not-so-groovy start to the new year for HD-DVD supporters, as it has been announced by the once-HD-format-neutral Warner Home Video representatives that as of May 31, 2008, the studio will no longer be releasing titles on both High-Def video formats and will only support Blu-Ray from then on.
Only 4 months since Paramount/DreamWorks announced that it would support HD-DVD exclusivley, this shocking news (even the heads at Toshiba didn't know anything about this until it was announced on Friday) could sadly be the final nail in the format war coffin and HD-DVD may very likely fill that metaphoic casket. If this is so, HD-DVD supporters like myself may be up shit creek by years end.

I plan to post more detailed info on this story over the coming weeks. Stayed tuned and keep your fingers crossed.

There's nothing to wait out. Warner's announcement is the big bomb everyone's waited for to end this stupid format war. Since each side produces equally good picture and sound, I've personally never cared which one would win, just as long as there would be ONLY one.

I, for one, am THRILLED this has happened. The handwriting's been on the wall for a few months now, and I essentially bet money on it by buying a few Blu-Ray discs (I still haven't bought a player, yet!) It can't be long now before Universal and Paramount/DreamWorks jump off the sinking ship (Paramount was once actually a supporter of BOTH formats, so welcome back, Par!).

You early adopters of HD-DVD might have some recourse. Read here to see how the Blu-Ray camp may try to help ease your suffering.

too bad, its just that "blue-ray" for no reason whatsoever rubbed me the wrong way...

like when i heard of the 2 new formats, all the blue ray stuff felt like it would be the one to die off...

my question is, with technology as fast as it is now, how long till the "next step?

like VHS was king from like the early to mid 80's till like 1999, and then dvd is king from 1999 till 2005 - 06 how long will the shelf life last on these new formats (because i had to sell off my huge VHS collection at a fraction of what i paid for it back in the day ) and although I will NOT be selling off my dvd collection **just be making the jump forward, to blue -ray or whatever, it ticks me off that the quality keeps going up

now don't get me wrong, i love improvements, but its like TIDE detergent which claims to be the best, then every 2 years or so it comes out with NEW TIDE which is 56% more effective than old TIDE, well if that is true, was old TIDE sub par? were we lied to? is this a conspiracy? will clemens ever admit to taking 'roids? will the writers strike ever be over?, will thay ever have stem cell research 100%..

end rant.
