I just saw the new Producers film...

I thought it was hysterical. Now, I am a Mel Brooks fan, but I don't love all his stuff. There's a scene in the film where Max (Nathan Lane) and Leo (Matthew Broderick) go to the home of the (very) gay director to try to hire him for their show. I was still laughing 2 scenes later when I was thinking back to the scene. "Gentlemen... may I take your hats, your coats, your swastikas..."

there is a good reason that it has not done well at the box office as opposed to how it has done on broadway. it didn't translate well to the screen.

i am of the opinion that most broadway shows do not translate well to film. the only exceptions that i can think of are Rocky Horror, Brighton Beach Memoirs, 42nd Street and Chicago. All other plays that were made into films such as Rent, the Producers, Phantom, Les Mis were better conveyed on stage than film.

I agree that it didn't translate as well to film as I hoped it would. Also, being a fan of the original film, I had trouble getting through the first 15 minutes that were almost exactly like the original movie. I did think it was okay in the end, but it took a while before I could get into it.

well..i think that from seeing both the stage show and just seeing the original movie last weekend...i have to say that the new movie tried to replicate the stage show too much. as you pointed out tomastigre...the original movie is better than this...if only for its more simplistic approach

I hate Nathan Lane ever since I went to see a play that he was starring in and the little twerp couldn't be bothered to show up.

I'm also pretty certain Matthew Broderick is gay and that his marriage is just a big sham. Not that there is anything wrong with being gay, I love gay folks.

Okay, wait a minute...

i've always thought that about the recent broderick. with movies like ferris, glory, and project x i never questioned anything about him. he was just another actor. with the broadway singing and dancing, movies like stepford, election, inspecter gadget, the freshman, etc...he is always a whiny little bitch...not very masculine at all.

he might not be all gay, but he loves the cock. i mean, some people like her, but sarah jessica parker looks like a confused 12 yr old boy.

Sarah Jessica Parker has a lot of nerve for getting pissed off because she was once compared to Ruth Buzzi. Hey, in the 70s, Ruth Buzzi was hot!
