| Ghost Rider GHOST RIDER (2007) GR is serviceable in the way the FANTASTIC FOUR movie was serviceable - some mis-steps and tone problems but generally okay. At the AMC Forum theater I saw it at, the 13 year-and-unders seemed to enjoy it a lot (there was much seat-jumping from kids during Blackheart's introduction and "lunge toward the screen with a scary face" move) and since that's the target audience, I guess it worked. Since the original character is essentially a teenager's "really cool notebook sketch" brought to life, with anything else the stories needed grafted on later, I wasn't expecting much. Perfectly fine stupid popcorn movie.
The voice for Ghost Rider just didn't work and the script was a little underdeveloped. The film does have that problem that a CGI-faced character doesn't have much presence but others might see this as making him feel "otherworldly" so who's to say? I thought the "YOU'RE PISSING ME OFF!" line during the helicopter scene was the closest they came to indicating how Ghost Rider differed from Blaze and there should have been a little more of that a little more underlining that there wasn't just a physical change.
I was surprised that for a character visually based on a speed concept, there was no big chase sequence. The "riding up out of the water" visual, promised in the commercials, just comes and goes too quickly and should have been the climax of some long sequence. My only real large-scale complaint was that overall the film was choppy and episodic...but then, we're talking about a movie that's this generation's THE GOONIES. Sitting somewhere in the audience somewhere in the United States was undoubtedly the kid who will grow up to re-make GHOST RIDER ("but better") in 15 years or so because "he loved it since he was a kid". And whatever passes for FAMILY GUY in 2022 will have some joke that brilliantly mixes sex and a flaming skeleton.
Such is life.

| I liked it. But I went in expecting a just pass the time, cool effects, no plot kinda flick. Plus Eva Mendes is hot. |

| I thought it was boring. But then again, I collected the Ghost Rider books circa 1988, when they reintroduced Ghost Rider with Blaze seperate, so I may have a tainted view. I do see what everyone says about Mendes, though. I thought she was only ok, but she was smoking in this movie.

Nothing spectacular but far from a waste of time. |

| I agree it was on on the line with FF.
Cage was good in his role, I was not expecting much from him.
Now just 2 months to Spiderman 3 |

| I actually don't agree with it being "in line" with FF. Reed, Johnny, and Ben were done well. Sue was close, closer with the marriage proposal. Doom was the only thing I had a real problem with. With GR, Blaze and GR didn't match my expectations. Neither seemed right.
