OUT OF THE DARK (1989)
A group of female phone sex workers are being stalked by a killer who calls himself Bobo the Clown. Yes, Bobo the Clown complete with a clown mask that looks like a deranged Steven Wright. The cops are on the case but with too many weirdos in these ladies lives to sort through. I'll give this late 80's slasher points for having a great cast but that is about it. Karen Black is the phone sex manager, Bud Cort a creepy accountant, Geoffry Lewis as a drunk plus Tracey Walter and Divine as detectives. You will pretty much guess the killer 15 minutes in and then watch as director Michael Schroeder tries to lead you astray over and over again. Stick with your gut. Schroeder's earlier MORTUARY ACADEMY is shown headlining a marquee in one shot. He later directed CYBORG 2 & 3, the former giving the world its first glimpse of Angelina Jolie.
