you just uploaded it and left no description at all - nevermind that I had any part whatsoever in the making of it - I can completley overlook that - but how about that there are 2 different sets mixed and matched depending on which set people have? or how about telling people what cases they were designed for? or provide liks to those places? ANYTHING?

Jupiter Prime and I spent 3 months working on a new "Star Trek: Ships of the Line" cover set. Within one day of it being available on my site, it has been uploaded to this site.

I am not happy.

Although the uploader gave me credit as author on most of them (I have found at least one cover that is under his own name), Jupiter got no credit what-so-ever.

These covers have no description...

No explanation of why there are are two different versions of Enterprise and TOS. (An alternate set was made to accomodate the original 40 disc release of TOS. Since this would affect the spine image another set had to be made for Enterprise as well) There is not even a hint as to what size cases these are made for.

So I ask you... What purpose do these covers (as they are now presented) serve on this site?

Jup and I had been discussing submitting these here before someone else did. We were just trying to make sure the covers were error free and how to split the credit between us.

I guess someone was just trying to save us the trouble, right? I have said this a few times. It is just a matter of respect for someone elses work.

I was under the impression that uploaders wre no longer even being given credits. Am I mistaken by this assumption? If I am correct, why would the uploader even take the time to do it?

I have already written to one of the admins, but I am so mad that I just cannot let this go without posting. Also there is the fact that I cannot currently upload any covers because I get a message saying, "Hello Ric, you currently have less than 10 posts. You will not be allowed to upload until you have more than 10 posts (in the forum)" This with a guy with over 100 covers on this site. A small fraction of which I have uploaded myself.

This is the absolute reason that I think there should be a rule that you can only upload your own work no matter what. There's to many $hitty cases like this that piss way to many people off. This is suppose to be a cover site where people come and share their own work with others but it becomes a site where people share others work with everyone. These people have no respect for others and only do it for credits, which is really sorry. If they would pull their heads out of their @$$es they would know that both you (Jup) and Ric are members here and if you wanted covers your covers here then they would be here. There was even a forum discussion last week about how you guys would split the credits.
I feel really really sorry for you guys because you put a lot of time and energy into making these incredible covers and now someone has disrespected you. The sad thing is that nothing with happen to the person that uploaded them here (pbr I think). I personally think that there should be a rule about only uploading your own work or get bannned, but thats just me.

This really is a shame, especially after all that hard work Jup and Ric put into this. It just goes to show that if you give people an inch they'll take a mile.

Just kidding. It is well out of order. It wouldn't be so bad if they were old covers, as most people will kow who they belonged to anyway. But to do it so quickly, just takes the piss!

FYI, here's the original thread where Jup was inquiring how to handle our covers here. Thanks for the understanding and support from you folks that get why we are pissed. Hopefully this will get worked out.

I still want to know what service the uploader thought he was providing this community without a description identifying that there are 2 versions, what cases they go in, etc. If he had seen the discussion in the previous thread, he would have known this was exactly the kind of thing we were hoping to avoid.

The motive may have been credits but credits this is not a credit per upload site now and hasn't been for sometime. I changed the owner of these covers myself to Ric most had already been changed. Point is no one but Ric and or Jupiter will gain credits from these as none had been downloaded before the changes. And Ric can now change the descriptions to whatever he likes and if you guys what to share ownership let me know who gets what and we will make it happen. The time when everyone could yell foul for someone gaining credits for their work is past so why the crying I mean come on, you guys will get the credits, you can edit the covers. It makes it look like you just like to bitch it's allways the same names when this starts. Bad thing is this time nobody took anything from you just saved you the time and trouble of uploading and they got nothing for it, so why the fuss the reason used to be credits but thats gone and still it continues.

I'm tired of hearing it so this is closed and don't open anymore threads on the subject.
