| I for one have never had a problem with ratings. I have to agree with CML. I think it is a great way to get to view the top covers that I may have missed when they were uploaded. It also seems to all balance out in the end.
I am consistent with what I give out and I don't have any petty grudges with anyone that would throw out low numbers just for the hell of it. I'm not biased towards anyone either, so no padding going on. You know, the way it should be.
There are too many grown people here that act like children. That's the real problem, IMO, not the ratings system. Sadly, there is no solution for that problem.

I've experienced it only once or twice. But seen it alot more on other covers. That misuse justifies its elimination. Besides, who really cares if your cover has a score. I don't, so I wont shed a tear for the rating system.

| Yes. I really understand what you mean Irrob. But no one cares about the rating the unknown persons are giving the covers. You whant to how the experianse dessigners rates them. One option would be to remove the total score and just have the comment rating. Think it´s easyer to just ignore the "n00b" raters then.
Becouse I´m a noob dessigner and havent even upload any work yet(but working hard), I would like to see how people rates them. Mayby not so strange? Impossibel for me to rate my own work......
Would like to add that your work is always 10/10 Irrob. Simply cant become any bether |

| I don't know, seems like a "don't fix what wasn't broken" situation to me. Others have already defended the rating system, so I won't comment about that.
I will say that "enforcing" commenting is really silly. You're going to harass or embarass everyone into entering a comment? All you're going to accomplish is a meaningless ebay style system, folks just entering the same meaningless crap over and over again for each cover.
jsmith: A++++++++++++ cover dude!
rzombie: Great cover!
alifeson: Looks fantastic!
Yes, currently many folks don't comment. That's good, because they have nothing to say. So you eliminate those folks, and the comments that *are* left are by folks that care, folks that have carefully thought about the cover and looked at it. |

| Know i'm gonna be flamed as a non contributer but why not have a system that shows date of upload,how many viewers and how many downloads. Speaks for itself. The best cover will get most hits.

The covers that will get the most looks and downloads will consistently be scans, the latest blockbuster in theatres, and cult classics like Star Wars. There's no perfect way to judge quality or "top" covers but a user rating system is the closest thing possible. I think the number of downloads just tells you absolutely nothing unless you are comparing it only against other customs for that same movie, otherwise all you are counting is which movies are most popular. Tracking downloads is fine but turning it into a contest will only encourage more people to release customs 6 months before the movie even hits theatres.
