Somewhere in the deep recesses of Sony, folks are raising sake cups and saying "Betamax, we have avenged thee!"

I think the better format lost but at least it's over.

I'm so glad I bought a combo player since I have quite a few HD-DVD discs and am sure to get more at the upcoming firesale.

I agree, I bet that Sony will raise the prices on their Blu Ray players now.

i think they will leave prices where they are. they won't lower them since they are the only game, but raising the price will keep the average person who was waiting for the war to be over away a little longer. keeping prices where they are will boost sales of ps3s and players.

PS3 sales will go up, it certainly can't go down because people are barely buying them lol. But for all you HD owners, I would think HD will go down in price

Technology prices tend to go down over time, and Blu-ray should be no exception. The blue lasers are getting cheaper to make, and with only one blue laser format now, the marketplace will be full of CE companies fighting to gain market share. Just because it's Sony's format doesn't mean they're the only ones making players. Samsung, Sharp, Denon, Sigmatek, Philips, Panasonic, Pioneer and Harman Kardon are also in the BD player game.

Should be a good Christmas this year!
