Printing DVDs

I have avoided printing directly onto DVD's for some time. I recently got hooked and love the results other then the images will smear if the fingers get wet. Has anyone heard of a solution. I am using the Epson300 printer

I leave my DVD's out in the open for 24 hours to ensure a good dry. Have not had this issue. Good luck. I use an Epson R200.

I use the Epsom 300 printer for printing onto DVDs

Great results depending on what kind of Media you use. In the UK you ca also get a sealant spray which stops the image getting ruined through wet fingers etc.

I have an Epson R800 and the printing on the CD's smear on mine as well. Extended drying times don't matter. I've left some of mine for weeks, and they still smear on contact. I'll have to look into that sealent spray. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just leave for at least 24hrs and dont leave the disks anywhere that chilly.

Never had any probs with the ink smearing this way,i use an Epson r220 along with compats.

Hope this helps

Hmmm weird. my Canon Prixa 4200 spits out the discs dry to the touch. They don't smudge at all. It looks like your using discs that don't soak the ink up quick enough. I'm using Ritek Inkjets.

When you're going to use the sealant spray, i would suggest you apply several thin layers and to do it i a well ventilated area. I don't use such a spray anymore now that i have my new canon 4000. Maybe the Canon printers are better suited for this task. You could also try different discs. I'm using Taiyo Yuden full face printables and they come out perfectly dry and don't smeer.

I have two Disc Printers... one of the 'oldies' which is the EZ/CD Print that is just a modified Epson C60. I just recently grabbed an Epson R220 for dirt cheap.

I use ProDisc blanks and usually let my discs sit for a few hours - and never use any sort of sealant.
