Need to watch Firefly before watching Serenity?

What do you guys think? Should you have watched all of the Firefly episodes before watching Serenity? It comes out on DVD tomorrow, and I would really like to see it, but am afraid of spoiling the "event" by not having seen all of the firefly episodes

The poll isn't quite accurate. There should be a slot for "Serenity can stand on it's own, but having seen Firefly first makes it sooooo much better".

If you can take 13 hours out of your schedule, watch the series first. The movie will have a thousand times more impact.

I saw Serenity at the theater no knowing a damn thing about Firefly. I loved every minute of it. I have since bought Firefly and it is in the queue to watch in the near future.

Ditto, but I actually went out and bought Firefly (by my wife's demand) the next day. Noobs will understand it better, but that in no way diminishes the movie.

BTW, anyone else find Jaynestown hillarious.

Jaynestown was an episode and I loved it. I thought it was very well written and very funny. Firefly is one of the great shows that got away and was cancelled well before its time. DAMN YOU FOX!!! DAMN YOU STRAIGHT TO HELL!!! I'm also mad about the cancelation of Arrested Development. Fox TV wouldn't know a good show if it jumped up, pulled the stick out of their asses and bit them in the nuts.

can't really blame FOX for Arrested Development. Fact is, nobody was watching it. FOX moved it's day and time slot trying to get more viewers, but to not much success. We can only hope that someone else will pick it up and continue the Bluth family story................

Actually people are watching it. They just aren't a part of the elite Nielsen family homes.

And Showtime seems to be the front-runner to pick it up with ABC contending for it as well.

ABC would be a bad move, they would cancel it even quicker than Fox.

Jaynestown was actually one of my favourite episodes. I want his theme song on a CD!

Jaynestown was a great episode. <Mmmm Mudders Milk>

Anyhow watch all the firefly episodes then watch Serenity for the best effect. There is alot of hidden humor from the episodes in the movie.
