I was thinking about this last night (bored I guess) and could not come up with a conclusive answer to my question. So, I thought I would throw it up here and see what all of you think. IMO, I always figured that the Jedi had the prophecy right - they just had the wrong Skywalker. After all, it was Luke who not only redeemed his father but also was the key figure who toppled the Empire restoring peace back to the Galaxy. Here's how I broke it down....

Yoda - lost to Palpatine/Sidious and at best tied with Dooku (I consider it a loss) - 0-2

Mace Windu - Beat Palpatine but got suckered by Anakin - 1-1

Obi Wan Kenobi - beat Darth Maul, beat Grievious, beat Anakin, but lost to Dooku twice - 3-2

Darth Maul - beat Qui Gon, but lost to Obi Wan - 1-1

Count Dooku - beat Yoday, beat Obi Wan twice, beat Anakin once, but got schooled the second time - 3-1

Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious - schooled like 5 jedi in a couple of seconds, then lost to Mace Windu, then beat Yoda, then got suckered by Darth Vader - 6-2

Luke Skywalker - lost to Darth Vader, but then later slapped him around like a little beeeotch. - 1-1

now, beacuse of the dramatic character change - I have decided to leave Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader seperate. After all it was Obi Wan who said that "The good man who was your father was destroyed. He ceased being Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader"

Anakin Skywalker - Lost to Dooku, the later bitch slapped him, suckered Mace Windu (shouldn't count). - 1-1

Darth Vader - killed dozens of little children (doesn't count in my book), lost to Obi Wan Kenobi, beat Obi Wan Kenobi, beat Luke Skywalker, lost to Luke Skywalker, then suckered Palpatine - 3-2

Some of the can be disputed I'm sure, but wanna hear what you guys think............and may the force be with.......always


**EDIT** I left Qui Gon Jinn out as I felt his skills were not appearent enough (at least on screen) to be considered, but feel free to argue an opposite view

as per that list, and gbk33's analysis, i'd have to say its palpatine/sidious since he schooled yoda, who was the best jedi of his time. Sidious didn't lose to mace..that was a calculated move. Sidious was punked by vader in epi 6, but that's not enough to dethrone him as the best of that list.

however, you've limited your list to only those featured in the movies. in the back story/eu there are many other jedi, dark jedi and sith mentioned whose powers far exceed those of the ones in the movies.

I think Yoda is the shit. does it also depend on what kind of fighting? as far as saber fighting, it seems yoda had the edge on sidious (thus sidious's attempt to run like a bitch from yoda in his chambers).Plus, I think yoda would have gotten the best of dooku if he didnt find a way out (by trying to drop pillar on jedis). Both fights I consider unfinished business.

Mace Windu, as he didn't die from the fall after the sucker slice , from Anakin, and lightening toast from Sidious
(geeze the emperor fried Luke for like 3 minutes in ROTJ, and Luke was fine) and Sidious only fried Windu for a sec or two, so after the fall,
(and grab onto one of many flying cars)

Mace re-grouped, and then hid in the shadows , helping the Rebellion in many ways...

like:

He was the spy who got the plans to Leia in a new hope,

He was the guy who let Han know Bounty Hunters were looking for him, in Empire...,

He is also the guy who took down the Last AT-AT (off-screen) on Hoth,

He also typed the info about the Hyper drive being deactivated into the main computer on Cloud City (as R2-D2 found out)

He was a patron on the sand skiff, at the sarlacc pit, who took many of the bad guys out (again offscreen)
and he managed to jump off it, before Luke and Leia blew it up...

He was the guy who stole the Tyderium Shuttle, and provided the dated, yet acceptable code, so that it could infiltrate the 2nd death star

and he was the UNSEEN X-wing pilot in the death star 2 , alongside Lando who hit the main reactor

and lastly, he was hanging out with our heroes in the closing shot of Return of the Jedi (just offscreen)

so Mace Windu is the Baddest Mutha Fucker in the Galaxy (and he even has a Jedi-Wallet that says so to prove it)

PS these are MY theories, and i have many more that I could list, however, who ever reads long posts through

It also ends with me being correct - Luke Skywalker is the most powerful Jedi ever - totally annihilating the Sith and their power forever allowing all Jedi to return in Ghost form...........assuming your web-site is correct Dr. Pills......and my grandfather tells me some different variations of some of those stories, and he was there
