| Books that should be made into movies Peter Jackson said that when he first read The Lord of the Rings as a youth, his reaction was something like, "Wow, I can't wait for someone to make these books into a movie!" He finally reached a point where he just decided to do it himself and stop waiting for someone else to do it.
What books have you read and thought, "This would make an awesome movie?"
My vote is for the Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander. There are five books, and I would like to see five movies done with the respect for the source material that was shown in Jackson's Lord of the Rings and recently in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It should be live-action, not cartoon. And Disney's Black Cauldron doesn't count anyway, because all they retained from the original work was the title of the second book and the names of the characters. I will refrain from ranting on this disgrace.
I also think that right now is the perfect time for such a venture what with the recent success of films in the fantasy genre. I really think that this genre was not taken seriously by anyone in the movie industry before Jackson. If you watch Willow, for example, you get a sense that everyone is just kind of playing around, because it's only a fantasy movie after all.

| I can't believe I left this out, but I also vote for The Hobbit! I hope the legal issues between the studio that owns the production rights and the studio that owns the distribution rights will be resolved in time for Peter Jackson to direct and Ian McKellen to play Gandalf, as both have indicated their desire to be on this project.

| DragonLance would be a kick ass set of flicks! I would also vote for the Hobbit. Stephen King's Dark Tower series would also be cool. But the Riftwar Series by Raymond E. Feist would really be the ones I'd love to see made. |

| Ken Follet - The Pillars of the Earth. But i don´t think that it is possible to make it as a movie, maybe as a mini-series hbo style. |

| I'm still waiting for a new version of "I am legend". Also just about any book written by Dean Koontz would make an excellent movie.

| Dragonlance Dragonlance was optioned but TSR at the time listened to some jerk that said he had a great idea for a D&D movie without buying the story. So instead of Dragonlance we got.
Dungeons and Dragons.
And it was bad. Peter Jackson take up the helm of fantasy again. Do these books. |

| I wouldn't mind seeing an attempt at The Dark Tower. Though that'd have to either be heavily condensed into maybe a trilogy or a mini-series. |
