How do you fold your dvd covers?

Ok so this is what i mean, assuming you're using relatively thick paper (200gsm glossy or more) you can't just shove a printed dvd cover into a case, when closing the case the spine looks kinda curved and bulky. Not how it's supposed to look when on display at all. Spanning spine artwork looks rediculous, they don't line up (i tried it with star trek movie set made by Ric Easton).
so here's what i do, after printing and cutting the cover, i put it in the appropiate case, and take it out right away, so it's supposed to be folded at the spine. then i grab a ruler and bend both sides over each other. Once for the left part of the spine, and same for right side. By doing so it makes the cover fit more firmly in the case, which looks a whole lot better

i wish i had taken a few picture before and after folding the Star trek covers to show exactly what effect it has on spanning spines

hmm..i have never had any problem folding a cover. i print, put in cover, put on shelf. no need to use a ruler to make the edges hard. spine spanning sets are always tricky...so there maybe you would need to define the spine with a ruler....but for other non-spine spanning covers, the curvature of the case is sufficient to bend the cover as necessary.

never had any problems either, but sounds like a good idea.

Usually put cover in and just crease around case.

thomkai that's what i used to do when i only had matte paper (120gsm i think)
however, with 200gsm glossy it isnt enough, i really need to bend them over with a ruler in order to fit it more smoothly in the case

OIC. I've just been using some crappy photo paper I bought at wal-mart. My first cover paper buyin experience. The paper looks okay, but doesn't feel like cover paper, and has markings on the back. And I'm officially off topic.

Anyway, I see what your saying now.

200 is too heavy, thats just a shade under photopaper which is almost card stock - get 120 to 150....170 tops and if you cant and have to go with 200, just slip it in the sleeve and close the box - eventually it will work itself into shape

lighter paper will definately work better. why did you end up with that weight of paper? good deal or something? its overkill for coverart as jup said
