Some great choices so far; The Fly, Magnificent Seven, Cape Fear, Dawn of the Dead... all great remakes.

Gotta be Sleepy Hollow for me tho. Tim Burton's version of this just kicked ass & is, in fact, in my top 10 all time fav movies.

The Italian Job and The Manchurian Candiidate I thought were well done and definitely worth remaking.

Switch's Top10 Remakes

The Man Who Knew Too Much - 1956 ( the best Hitchcock movie ever ! )
Oceans Eleven - 2001 (made the original look like a campy musical )
Dawn of The Dead - 2004 (sorry Mr.Romero )
Scarface - 1983 ( really ? is a comment necessary? )
The Blob - 1988 (Steve McQueen's original sucked )
Cape Fear - 1991 (the original was good but DeNiro took it to another level)
Shaft - 2000 ( Samuel L. Jackson made John Shaft uber cool )
The Fly - 1986 ( the F/X and Goldblum were outstanding )
The Magnificent Seven - 1960 ( should be required viewing for all budding directors)
The Thing - 1982 ( this is a how a horror story should be told cinematically, still has goosebump power for me even having watched it dozens of times)

the only one that i will disagree with on that list is Shaft. Otherwise it is a good list.
