I use Vebatim data life plus now and have no problem at all with them before that i used ritek G04 & Go5 however they lose quailty after about 6 months and by 12 month your lucky if they even work in your dvd player but in there defence i do live in a hot & humid climate (not sure if that has anything to do with it) I put all my digital photos onto DVD slideshows & have now lost alot of these by using riteks so i guess it is more about what your putting onto your disc,s If its your photos or home movies use verbatim

What is the G05 dye since I'm looking for printable DVD-R's with a silver matte finish?

i use taiyo yuden or sony. I have tried vertmin which are great but pricey. and i tried imation and mermix and they don't work to well. Taiyo yuden i recently got and love them, have over 300 discs and no coasters yet.

Although I used to order printable DVD's online, I have had flawless performance on Maxell DVD's that you can pick up at Walmart. The Maxells work great, have great print quality, dry quickly, and you can print all the way to the center. I know I could find cheaper DVDs online, but $15 buck for a 25 pack seems reasonable given the convenience of buying them in town.

I have heard that Maxell discs are actually Taiyo Yudens, but I have no idea how to verify this. In any event, they work great.
