Some people actually think Evil dead 2 is a sequel to the Evil Dead...

| Plain and simple, the dvd commentaries State its a remake...
who in their right mind would think it's a sequel? there are only ash and his girlfriend,in evil deead 2 "dead by dawn" (not 2 couples plus an extra girl) and the first movie ended at dawn, and the second begins in daytime and ash is teleported back through time... leading up to the third movie which was supposed to be called Medevil Dead
I have been at many conventions, and spoke withall 3 ladies, hal, and tom sullivan (who can talk for days) and they all say 2 is a remake.

| Seeing Evil Dead once way long ago and Evil Dead 2 more like 8 times... always thought it was just a remake..
never put much thought into it, but I guess when you have a cone-shaped head there Bert, anything can spin up there.

it is a sequel because the rights were lost to use the first movie as background so rami, WHO FUCKING SAYS IT IS A SEQUEL, decided to use only the important pieces of the first to show where it all began....like he decided to do again in Army of Darkness.
Ash has all the knowledge of what happened in Evil Dead by the time he is seen in Evil Dead 2. Evil dead 2, present day, picks up right at the end of evil dead 1, except for the beginning which is a flashback (refilmed because rami couldn't use the footage from EV1)
