452 but i want to get rid of most of them. i have just categorized my dvds into my own 1 - 10 rating system and it sucks because i said going in anything i rate a 5 or lower, I'd want to sell or give away, but that's nearly 300 dvds. what do you think...$5 a movie on ebay?

Paper Pills... Put a list up for sale on the "Garage Sale" section of this forum. I'm sure you'll be able to sell them here!

What!?@ There is no "Garage Sale" section of this forum...

Now that is a BRILLIANT idea.

I actually managed to pick up a number of Lexx DVD's that I was missing out of the series from one of the fine folks I met online at DVDCA. He hated the show, I love it. He got cash out of DVD's he didn't want, I was able to fill in missing slots. Good deal all around.

I'd bet most of us have paypal, and one cool thing about an online forum is once you get to know folks it's very easy trading with them. I hang in a guitar forum and a lot of us have bought and sold many guitars from each other online. It works out well.

In my opinion there is no need for "Garage Sale" Section this a cover site not a swap meet.

613 counting by title, not counting the ones I have set aside to sell or stuff that's ordered/preordered and not gotten here yet ... they take up about 40 ft of bookshelves with about 5 ft more space before some books will have to go ...

600 seems to be a common collection size. I bet there's a lot of overlap too.

Over the weekend, I bit the bullet and built a custom shelf set to hold these things. I'd been using the Atlantic metal stands, but they just don't hold enough or go high enough.

So...

For $57 worth of lumber at Homeless Despot, I built a 10 shelf high (just short of 8') by 35" long set of shelves that holds 580 DVD's in my standard Amaray II cases. At present rate or acquisitions, I'll have to build another one in a couple months.

It was a really simple design, and leveraged the stock sizes they had there. I was even able to get the boards cut to length at the Despot and didn't have to cut squat once I got home. Just glued, screwed and assembled. It's about as densly packed as you can get and occupies the minimal amount of wallspace possible.

About 450, I want to be up to 500 by the end of the summer!! The problem is I have been spending too much time with the covers and not enough time buying new ones!
