I used to only buy Canon paper for printing with my pixma 5000 and i9000, (and even before on my i860) and I loved it. But since, I tried a free sample of Stales "Professional" semi gloss photo paper, and it is even better. I was so skeptical because I hate no name paper, but this stuff is the best I have tried and it is cheap. On sale I got 50 for $14, I would have still bought it even if it was $50, it is that good. Flexible too.

I find the paper that was designed for specific use in teh given printer is alwyas a safe bet....example:

Epson Printer, Kodak paper, nice, but can remain tacky days (if not longer)...
Epson Printer, Epson paper, ready for immediate use

I have an epson stylus photo 925 and these are the papers I try.

with Epson ink
- Epson Photo Quality ($15 for 20) paper works really well. It is the thinnest of all the papers I used.
- Epson Glossy Photo paper is what I used mainly. Used to be at Costco at 100 for $20. Impossible to beat that price. Now they carry Kodak .
- Meritline Silver Reflective Film (silver foil ($12 for 10)) is very thin and makes covers look awsome. However, very expensive, and annoying if you print on the wrong side, as the ink only beads on top. Needs to be dried at least overnight if not longer.

with generic ink from inkdaddy.com (6 black, 6 color for $35)
- Meritline Premium Photo Glossy was horrible. But at $2 for 20, I had to give it a try.
- Silver foil now takes at least a week to dry
- HP glossy brochure/flyer paper ($35 for 50) is awsome. However, if the quality of the cover is bad, it'll print out worse. As HP uses bubble ink tech instead of jet ink tech, it might not be as bad on those type of printers. Everyone is correct though, double sided and feels like the real thing.
- Epson Glossy Photo. I went back to this old warhorse for the cost. I can only find it at $20 for 50, but that still beats most others and prints better than the others with this ink.

Jup is right. Each company tweaks their paper for their printer and ink.

Have to agree with BlackWatch, Epson Glossy Photo paper is the way to go. I have tried many others and only suggest to stay FAR away from Meritline at all costs.

Only one problem with that, they are the only ones that I have encountered that puts out silver foil paper.
