What photo paper do you find best for cover printing?

What kind of paper do you guys find best when printing your covers? Also I would be intrested to know what printer people are using.

Personally I use 180gsm photo gloss paper and a Canon IP3000. Providing the cover I'm printing is hi res, I find the quality fantastic!

I have used legal sized paper in the passed, but now use A4 sized photo paper with an HP 2710 printer. Seems to do a pretty good job. Never had any complaints anyway

still have not upgraded my printer...using an hp photosmart 1218 and i use whatever photo paper is on sale at costco at the time...usually hp, epson or kodak paper. single covers can fit on letter sized paperr. I don't print anything else...since I have not yet been bitten by the consolidation bug, but a4 seems to be what many use for larger covers.

I find that branded paper is a rip off, it costs £9.99 for a pack of 20 sheets (thats about $14). I buy from ebay and can get 100 sheets for £11.99. I'm trying to find the same type of paper that retail dvds are printed yet but don't really know what the density, type is etc.

For a cool effect you can get holographic, silver and gold foil paper at thecraftypc.com It can be expensive at a dollar a page but some covers look amazing when printed out on this type of paper. Also, for printing I use a canon i960 and have my settings at vivid photo>image optimizer>A4 size>high res paper>high quality.

I too use a Canon i960, but I only use Canon ink and Canon paper. Therefore, I set all my settings per the paper (Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy). Prints look better than retail covers, and come off the printer perfectly dry.

Ahh, I will have to try the canon paper. The whole reason I started using the holographic paper was because I couldnt get the covers to not stick to the plastic. I got a good system now but I have quite a few covers that would look better with standard glossy photo paper.

I have found that hp brochure/flyer paper gloss is very simliar to retail dvd covers. it has pretty much the same printing quality as photopaper but its about half the thickness and is very flexible and it is double sided ) so if you ever wanted to put a cover in a clear case you could have a cool inner background and then the cover on the outside.. I havent done it yet but it is an option

I've tried quite a few paper/printer combos and right now I'm using HP brochure & flyer paper, 44 lb, coated 2 sides, 8 1/2 x 14 with a Canon i960.. I think the covers look better than the originals.. Obviously better flexibility than photo paper but heavier than regular, ink dries almost immediately, but I always give them a few minutes to make sure ...It's hard to find but www.graytex.com has it.

One thing to watch for as well is some of the bargain basement cases have inferior Vinyl and the printed covers won't look as good as they do in a brand name case with crystal clear vinyl.. Also the vinyl lays down better at the edge of the case where on the cheap ones you'll see wrinkles or waves...
