Does anyone know where to get printable dual layer discs anywhere at all? I wasn't aware that they made them yet.

This is my point, I've looked everywhere trying to get hold of printable ones but I can't find them. I would have thought they are available, theres no reason they shouldn't be!

Also, does anyone know why the price isn't dropping? My local media store sells them for £4.99 each, which is a lot compared to single layers that go for 29p

the dual-layer drives have just now started to sell the way that the retailers thought they would a year ago. Same for the discs, they thought there would be a higher demand, so they jacked the price up. It back-fired on them. People had a hard time seeing the value in buying the higher capacity discs, when they can't see that much of a quality drop backing up movies to a DVD-5 disc. The prices will drop, it's just taking much longer than anyone had anticipated for the media to be the "market standard"......and that totally sucks due to the fact that patience is not one of my better virtues.

I'm waiting for the good quality discs to drop to $3-4 before I will buy the new drive. Not worth it otherwise to me.

I've had a conversation with the guy at my local media shop and he says printable dual layer disc wont come out in the UK because theres not the market for them and dual layer discs are no very compatible.

I'm not sure if this is true but it would certainly explain why I can't get hold of any!

I've found that my dual layer discs have played in a lot more players than the regular DVD-/+ discs. Did he say anything about them coming out in the States?

Diddo I have had better luck with the DL media compared to SL simply because the Book type setting (dvd-rom) on most of my players. Shit there too expensive as it is why would anyone want to spend an extra $5 a disc to print to it. Send some money my ways moneybags! JK

I've looked into this a bit further and it seems as if printable dual layer media is the thing of dreams! I would be happy to pay $5 (thats about £3.50 in real money ) but it looks as if I'm in the minority.

Hey ho, single layer will have to do, splitting a large movie (such as the Godfather) over 2 discs seems to be the only option for me

P.S. the guy in the shop didn't mention anything about them coming out in the States.

Right now i'm still paying around $10 per disc which seems high, but I only do it for movies that require 50 compression to backup.
